"Das ist keine Nachbarschaft. Das ist Community" Lettering: Cihan Tamti
This illustration was created for Manifesta 16 — the nomadic European biennial of contemporary art, taking place across the Ruhr region in 2026 — in response to the theme "Das ist keine Nachbarschaft. Das ist Community", exploring how community forms beyond administrative boundaries and shared geography. It maps the Ruhr through overlapping cycles and rhythms of everyday life. Human and non-human actors, objects, and landscapes merge into a single space of coexistence — community understood not as a fixed territory, but as a dynamic process, collectively shaped and continuously unfolding.

Illustrations for Making Futures School

The visuals document participatory and speculative mapping exercises, socio-spatial strategies, and relational approaches, conveying alternative possibilities for local transformation and the sustainable development of future spaces.
